The Blaqs Saga

The Clash between prominent Nigerian rappers, Odumodublvck and Blaqbonez started like a little ember, blown away by a gentle breeze, only to settle on a vocational fireplace, quickly becoming an entertaining wildfire.

How it started

The beef between the two artists had been stirring up for months, and appears to have escalated in June, 2025. While the exact cause of this clash remains a mystery, It does appear to have been on a constant stir by personal views & preferences, favoritism, competitive egos, cryptic social media posts and indirect lyrical references.

Note: We may refer to Odumodublvck as Blvck, and Blaqbonez as Bonez in the write-up below.

The Blaqs History

Blvck and Bonez used to be what we would consider friends, or colleagues who respected and cherished each others presence and musical style. In 2023, They collaborated on tracks titled “DOLLERZ” , “TESLA BOY”, even one titled “TECHNICIAN” in 2024. Blvck at a time in-fact credited Bonez  as a good influence to his style in 2023.

Social & Lyrical Triggers, Fueling the fire

Whispers & tensions however began to circulate, even around this period where presumably, Blvcks associate, Shagba allegedly made a subtle dissing at Bonez, although, there was little focus by the public as at that time. Odumodublvck however released a song titled “Pussy Niggaz” in his album, “The Machine is Coming”, one that had fans concluding him to be making direct references to Bonez.

The feud gained more focus in June 2025, when Blackbonez had a collaboration with another artist, A-Q, releasing a song titled “Who's really Rapping”. This track, in addition to the influence of fans fueled things up quickly, as many picked on a part of its lyric “pushing 50”, where He seem to be taking shots at an unnamed rapper saying whoever he really was referring to, wasn't acting their age.

That wasn't the end, as Blackbonez continued with cryptic comments; “Like Wizkid, I can't complain. All I can say is act your age”, followed by another “whenever you rap, people call you wack, could never be me though”. Blvck as anyone would guess, didn't hold back, responding with tweets on X where he posted series of tweets defending his status in the music industry, where he claims Bonez is being jealous. He continued with another tweet stating “If rap hard for me, Your last hit no go dey with me. I'm everything you want to be.”

In an interview on Jusmen 105.7 FM, he wrote Bonez off being the best rapper in Nigeria where he called it a disrespect to artists like Olamide, Falz, Vector, Reminisce, M.I Abaga amongst others who Nigerian's would arguably consider as the best.

Fans of both had challenged them into getting into the studio to prove themselves rather than the “verbal & social media disturbance” as some chose to go with.

Social Challenge

With the drama having continued for weeks now, some social users especially on X are starting to consider the topic as a “social disturbance”, challenging both to go to their respective studios to prove themselves.

Blaq seem to have been the first to take the studio challenge seriously, Having made a track release few days ago titled “Go Crazy”. The lyrics to this song seem to be totally based on the duel between these two, with visuals that seem to provide steeped and hidden insults aimed at his counterpart, some of which we would tried to decode in the Part 2 of this Article.

Social Banter, Scripting or an Actual Duel?

As previously seen in the entertainment Industry, This saga has quite enough people stuck, questioning if this is another a social cruise, acting/scripting or an actual duel. As at now, we believe this to be nothing but a social and a scripted entertainment tactic, although, tweets from Blvck “You want to make it about studio. Na lie. We go meet again for street. This is not a rap beef” may give a different meaning.

What does Odumodublvck mean by this?

While there has been no direct interpretation known to us as at this moment, we understand this tweet having both positive and negative meanings. This tweet may suggest that this beef isn't just about music, suggesting that they should rather have the matter settled on the street, which in this sense, would mean via confrontational and physical fights. We however believe there's possibility of this tweet making reference to them meeting on the street later, socially.
